Balancing Vision With Action

Do you know the feeling when a church plant gets stuck?

I do!

You start to question your calling and your ability to grow a church. After having processed your feelings, you start to look at things more objectively.

This happened to me.  After having planted for several years without doing a Sunday service, we felt led to start thinking and praying about a regular Sunday meeting. As we did that, an amazing amount of energy was released among our people.

They finally had a place to invite their friends and acquaintances to!

We also realized that our leadership teams should not stay the same for more than one or two years. We need to broaden our base to include more people in the decision making process. That move created another big boost of energy.

We are now in the process of finding a place to start what we are calling the Vineyard Café. This will become not only our meeting place but also a location for creative arts, music gigs, exhibitions of arts, and a center for people to go to during the day. Again, a young church has to take steps that include a sense of risk to create energy, a sense of calling and a sense of achievement.
