I just got news of a lady who had the heart to help women and children who are hurting and need encouragement. She knew she was supposed to do something for the Lord but with lockdown and quarantines in place (due to the COVID-9 crisis), she felt stuck.
Rather than focus on all the things she could not do, she focused on what she could do.
She found a way to search social media and followed everyone within a 25-mile radius of her neighborhood. All she cared about was this 25-mile radius. She didn’t add any other search criteria such as hobbies, age, or their spiritual background/preference.
She stated, “The goal of this ministry is to reach hurting people where they are…even if they look different than me. Even if they use language I wouldn’t or have never stepped foot in a church. I just want to love people.”
She regularly signs into the social media platforms and looks for updates from people who are having a difficult time or sound like they need encouragement. Then she sends them a quick direct message (DM). She says things like:
- I’m praying for you.
- Can I help with _____________?
- I believe in you.
- How can I pray for you today?
Sometimes people respond to her messages and sometimes they don’t. But that’s not the point.
She is doing what she feels the Lord has directed her to do in this season. She is reaching out, loving people that Jesus cares about, and is truly making a difference.
Rather than focus on all the things you CANT do, take some time and imagine all the things you can do. Then take the next step and take action – do it!
