The Power of Bold Moves in Church Planting

Church planting is a mission that requires passion, dedication, and boldness. For over 20 years, I served as a church planter in various communities. I lived through all the challenges, struggles, and rewards. Through my experience and observations, I found that the most successful church plants are the ones that take bold moves and embrace risk. Playing is safe typically ends with a church that has a goal of paying its bills and merely existing. We, the Body of Christ, exist to do so much more… to reach so many more people. In this blog post, I will share with you the power of bold moves in church planting and how it can help you break through your plateau or decline and be all that God has called your church to be.

Bold moves ignite passion and energy.

To achieve significant growth, your church plant needs to have a strong sense of purpose that inspires and motivates you and your team. To fuel that passion and energy, making bold moves is crucial. By thinking outside the box, trying new things, and stepping out of your comfort zone, you show your church family and the community that you are committed to your mission and willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Bold moves diffuse complacency and break through barriers.

When you get stuck in routines, your church plant can become stagnant. That is when complacency sets in. To avoid this, it is vital to take bold moves that challenge your status quo and break through any barriers that seem to hold you back. Bold moves could mean experimenting with new technology, launching a unique ministry, or hosting an unconventional event. Whatever it is, it should be something that engages your community and creates a buzz that sparks interest and excitement.

Bold moves attract and retain members.

Church planting is all about building a community of believers that share your vision. To do this, you need to attract new members while retaining your existing ones. Bold moves can help you achieve this by engaging your community, building relationships, and creating unforgettable experiences. People crave something fresh and exciting, and by offering that to them, you will be more likely to grow your community.

Bold moves create a ripple effect.

Bold moves don’t just affect your church plant’s growth and development, but they also create a ripple effect in your community. By making a bold move, you are setting an example that inspires others to take risks and pursue their passions.  The impact of one bold move can go beyond the walls of your church plant and inspire others to take action.

Bold moves can range from big events to small initiatives, but they all spark a sense of energy in your community that sets you apart from other churches.  By making bold moves, you will not only be able to reach more people and grow your church plant but also create an energizing atmosphere that encourages everyone in the community. When your church family is excited, it will be contagious. Those who have stopped inviting friends will soon be inviting everyone they come across.

Bold moves require wisdom and discernment.

While taking bold moves can be life-changing, it is also essential to approach them with wisdom and discernment. Remember – bold moves are meant to stir up the body to be all that God has planned and to be more effective in kingdom work, not to split a church. Not every bold idea will work, and it is crucial to evaluate the risks and benefits before making any decision. Seek advice from mentors who can see things from a fresh perspective and give their views, as well as point out any blind spots you may have with the plan. Remember, bold moves require courage, but they also require strategic planning to ensure success.

This takes courage, wisdom, and a willingness to step out of your comfort zone. Remember, bold moves ignite passion and energy, break through complacency and barriers, attract and retain members, create a ripple effect, and require wisdom and discernment.

So, go ahead, take a risk and make that bold move, and watch your church thrive.
